A Guaranteed Income For All
BASIC INCOME
NOVA SCOTIA

We advocate for a Basic Income through outreach, education, and informed conversation. The COVID-19 pandemic showed us how important it is that all Canadians should be able to rely on a solid income floor: a Basic Income for all who need it.

Poverty has been a persistent and unnecessary social ill in Nova Scotia. Our welfare programs are inhumane, punitive and oppressive. Furthermore, they are not achieving their goals. The insecurity associated with the rising gig economic, the fact that most Canadians are one paycheque removed from poverty, the insecurity of many in the middle class, the workforce revolution through automation, the challenges on our public health systems, the rising political threat of the ultra-right, and the climate change demands for a reshaping of the traditional workforce are all feeding a new interest in this age-old idea of Basic Income and Income redistribution.
